Exercise and How to Manage Stress
A condition of mental and emotional strain with demanding circumstances is what is referred to as stress. One is said not to be a good state of mind when they are stressed. Causes of stress are very numerous. People are affected by the causes of stress differently. Some people get stressed at their workplace. At the workplace, one can be affected by being unhappy with the job, working for long hours, and working under dangerous conditions. Life stress is other form of stress. Sometimes however, stress can come from inside. Meaning that one can stress themselves out by worrying about certain things. Examples of such are fear and certainty, attitude and perceptions, unrealistic expectations, and major life changes. It is unhealthy to be stressful. Hence, the need to be stress free. There are some negative health effects that are associated with stress. Irritability, a headache, fatigue, and difficulty in sleeping are the examples of the health implications of stress. Some of the health implications of stress can be life-threatening. However, there are ways that can help a stressed person to do away with the stress.
Some of these ways are as follows. It is important that a stressed person should avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Nicotine and caffeine are known to be stimulants. These substances will increase the levels of stress rather than reducing. Despite alcohol being a depressant when consumed in large quantities, it is not an effective way of managing the stress. Getting more sleep is a simple way that can help a stressed person to reduce the stress levels. This is so, since lack of enough sleep is capable of causing stress. Another tip of managing stress is the utilization of the relaxation techniques. Most of them are tried and tested.
The other means of stress management is through doing physical exercises. Stress is characterized by the increasing levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. Exercise can therefore boost the production of these hormones. It is not a must for someone to do a vigorous physical exercise to achieve this. Brisk walking in fresh air can be very helpful. Working out on a daily basis is even a much better remedy.
Exercise helps in stress management following certain mechanisms. Exercise has the effect of pumping endorphins into the body. The endorphins are known as brain’s feel-good transmitters. Exercises help a person to forget about someone’s day irritations. The mood of a person can be improved following an exercise session. This is done by increasing one’s self-confidence, it can help someone to relax and can also lower the symptoms of mild depression and anxiety.
